As you may have noticed I have not done a poker blog post in ages. That is down to me playing very little Poker this year apart from the videos that you see me play with G-Dog. Try as I may, finding the addiction thing for sitting in front of my computer all night playing online poker does not exist. I just get really affected by the loneliness of it, meaning my online poker game will never be anything more than a passing fancy. Unfortunately this also means I’ll probably never get really good at it and my involvement now is a once a week shot at a big win via a good sized $10 tournament.
So I have come up with a new idea.
The life of an online poker playing grinder does not appeal, at least not right now. Unless the Irish lady at my local chemist or the equally tasty one at my local garage picks up on the hint and agrees to go out with me I reckon sitting at home playing poker knowing I can afford to give that time up when I should be earning money or finding a bird seems to be out of the question.
Therefore, live poker seems the way to go. Incredibly I actually enjoy it and do not get the same weird feeling of despair I get sitting in front of the computer. Maybe that is because my record is way over EV with a 2nd, 2nd, 35th (of 36 starters lol) and a 1st in four tournaments. I play a similar game and find the lower stakes are tight. Providing you pick your spots you are far more likely to get a fold where in an online poker game you might get called.
So the plan is to play at least one poker tournament every two weeks in Newcastle and start looking at playing in some reasonably medium stakes online tournaments shooting for that big win. That will probably mean a loss overall but then I am happy to spend some money each month and treat it as entertainment. Any decent win goes into the overall fund for saving for a house, which I am doing anyway aside from my poker playing.
I am also doing a new blog, which you can view over at www.malcolmclarke.co.uk, about everything except Poker and Politics. I’m all blogged out with both of them to a point but I still love doing this site, particularly down to having Witty on the team which without him I doubt I’d be motivated to do it!
Look out for the intros to our real vids and podcasts, which Gareth made over this last week. Good work and it will freshen things up a bit!

Yep if you can make the live event into a vidcast that would be great? Or take a mp3 player with rec function and do a before, breaks and after audio/video updates even?
You can get the mini Sony SVC,s now, seen one on the rounds in a casino in London. Some institutes ban them, however they’re really useful bits of equipment for when over stepping decisions.
It’s a great idea to keep us all posted, but also think of the value afterwards in scrutinising your own work and how you played those hands.
It can only be a good thing.
