Getting Down to some Poker

by Mal on May 2, 2010

Poker has not stood too highly on my list of priorities recently but that is about to change.

I am potentially playing in a poker tournament on Wednesday in the afternoon which will be the first of hopefully many. I intend being a more visible player and attempt to learn my trade in the local live tournaments. I have heard they are not great to play in but I hope I can adapt to the required strategy and do alright. The only thing stopping me may be campaigning but hopefully I can do that in the morning and get down for the afternoon and check it out. If it does not happen this week it will happen next week for certain.

The plan is to start playing a steady amount of hands each day. I am involved in local politics, therefore a bit of my time has been going into the local campaign. After Thursday things should calm right down. I am probably going to Lincoln to visit my sister for the weekend and unplug and when I come home it is work work work and poker poker poker for the next few weeks. To be honest the prospect of finally getting down to poker business excites me.

Also on the cards is to start walking. I will deliberately alter my routine to write in the morning, exercise in the early afternoon and then play poker in the late afternoon and early evening. It sounds the wrong way around but not going out spending money during the day and playing poker will actually help me save money! This is because I use my bankroll and will not need to redeposit and even if I did it would only be a small amount.

Call this my WSOP as we report on Gary’s progress. I have the SCOOP tournament to play aswell this month and fingers crossed I do well in that too.
