High Stakes Living – Ari Engel and David Chicotsky

Posted by Mal | December 26, 2009 | Posted in: Poker Video | Comments (0)

The online version of the “MavenVT” poker training will be released early in 2010. Here is a video of High Stakes Living touring the “Ari Training Center”

It seems like a really nice place but these guys charge a LOT to be there. I do not endorse or criticise the training as I do not know what it is, but I would be hesitant in paying $5000 to find out. Most player have nothing but good to say about these guys though.

Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier has had a run in live and online poker over the last two years that has seen him become one of the most recognised poker players in the world. Here is an interview from Pokertube that discusses his childhood, his time in Korea and, of course, his poker thoughts.

This is a link to the pokertube video that Gary made about how to win a $2 SNG. He goes through the hands he played during the tournament using a replayer. It has got some great comments on pokertube and certainly they are a tough crowd to please!

Look out for video by Gary coming very soon.

Team Domeski Film

Sometimes pokertube can go for ages without a decent and watchable video. Then they go and post a real gem and being the kind souls we are at itsawinner I am going to embed the video for our readers.

My continual striving for fitness meant I cycled 6.15 miles whilst watching this. It was filmed in the fall of 2007 and documents four young professional players who have won big and live together in Athens, Georgia. A lot of the video documents a big party they have and some prop betting by the young pros. You should definitely watch this video if you want a look at how some rich internet poker kids live.

Please do not forget to register in our forums and start building our new poker community. Those who join early will get to be a well-known poster.

Phil Ivey v Paul Jackson – Bluff v Bluff

Posted by Mal | June 8, 2009 | Posted in: Poker Video | Comments (2)

This is a marvellous hand and one that I have heard loads of discussion about but not had a chance to watch it until tonight. Over at pokernews there is a brilliant article discussing this hand, be sure to check that out.

Jackson and Ivey both think that the other is bluffing, and it has amazing results! How many of you would CALL a re-re-raise with NOTHING? How about RAISING a re-re-raise with nothing?

From the perspective of me thinking about the hand (comments welcome of course) I think Ivey did expect Action Jack to fold after the re-raise, as the commentator correctly pointed out it would be more likely the player would trap with three Jacks and flat call rather than raise. It is the all-in move at the end that is the most amazing, as Ivey is basically offering four to one, which is a massive dagger to the heart of Action Jack who is basically told by Ivey in the bet that “I have a strong enough hand that I’ll give you four to one you can’t beat me” or “You have nothing so you cannot even call this bet with the odds I’m giving you”. Whichever way you look at it he then has to immediately fold as he has no hand. Amazing. I believe Action Jack wins this hand against 98% of poker players.

World Series of Poker 1983 is beautifully available from pokertube.com. I am not an affiliate of pokertube (can you be?) but I’m a fan and I think users will enjoy this if you trawled through the archived material.

The final table featured the following players: Tom McEvoy, Rod Peate, Doyle Brunson, Carl McElvey, Robbie Gears, Donn O’Dea. All videos to follow.

How to Play JJ

Posted by Mal | May 22, 2009 | Posted in: Poker Video | Comments (3)

I was given this video to watch by a friend and it really is funny. Only poker players could enjoy it because it is actually laughing at someone taking a bad beat.

Please note there is swearing in this video, so if you don’t like that don’t play it! For the rest of you poker players…enjoy.

How To Make a Poker Video

Posted by Mal | May 14, 2009 | Posted in: Poker Video | Comments (0)

I found this video on my daily trawl of pokertube. It is a well described video on how to use Camtasia to make a good poker video. Certainly worth a look if you fancy doing video and some good advice on how to pre-empt pokertubes compression of your videos. Just imagine creating a great video and fantastic commentary only for it to be barely watchable due to bad settings.

Enjoy.
