Mal Clarke & Gareth Witty $20 Pokerstars Challenge

Posted by Mal | February 17, 2010 | Posted in: News | Comments (1)

This poker challenge is to help mal255 and tiltdonkey16 play more poker and with a purpose and also to structure our coverage of our own play within this site.

Challenge Rules

1. Deposit $20 only into Pokerstars
2. Play $0.01/$0.02 until bankroll reaches $60
3. With fifty buy-ins for $1 + $0.20 SNG’s we can now play them, or stick with cash games.
4. When we reach $120 we are allowed to buy into larger MTT’s no that 100 buy-ins for that level has been reached.

Bankroll Rules

We must move down in limits if we reach less than ten buy-ins for the cash games and normally preserve twenty of more. When we are at the lowest level we must persist until we recover or go busto. As we are only starting with $20 and taking it easy this is not money we cannot afford to lose, therefore busto is not so scary.

We can move up levels in the cash games and take a shot with fifteen buy-ins for the next level up. It is fine, however, to remain at one level if you wish.

We must always have fifty buy-ins for SNG tournaments and one hundred buy-ins for MTTs. If we fall below $60 we must grind back up in cash games.

Feedback

We will discuss our progress and hands in the blogs on the site and in our poker forum.

The challenge begins on March 1st 2010 and will be ongoing from then on.

Rush Poker at Full Tilt

Posted by Mal | January 21, 2010 | Posted in: News | Comments (1)

This could be the biggest innovation to online poker for many years. Sweeping the poker world is Full Tilts biggest achievement yet. You play one hand, if you don’t like it you fold and you are INSTANTLY transported to another table where you are immediately dealt a new hand. Immediately!

The speed that you can play hands, earn rakeback and clear bonuses has dramatically increased. It is the online poker grinders dream, but at a small cost to the quality player. No longer can HUD’s like poker tracker give you instant feedback on your opponents style. You must learn a solid ABC style of poker and take into account the speed and control tilt. It is the ultimate test of quick thinking and classic ring game poker.

Do you think you have what it takes? Try rush poker today at Full Tilt poker. You can sign up by clicking the link to the right and claim a 100% bonus up to $600.

Tune in to next weeks radio show on Tuesday 8.30pm GMT and 2.30pm EST where we will dedicate a show to the rush poker experiences of myself Mal “mal255″ Clarke, Gary “el nino 1″ Hurst and Gareth “tiltdonkey16″ Witty.

Forum Modification – Last One Ever

Posted by Mal | January 17, 2010 | Posted in: News | Comments (1)

Have you ever changed something (like a girlfriend) and realised that actually you had it good to begin with?

I do. I have decided to revert to the www.itsawinnerforum.com for the forum. The following members are already registered, Mal, Gareth, Gary, Dave.

The good news is on this forum we CAN embed youtube video. You do so by using the code for the video like I235n2n2395 only within tags. Simples.

Enjoy the forum and accept my apologies for changing things too much instead of working out on the exercise bike.

James Akenhead Wins Poker Million VIII

Posted by Mal | December 5, 2009 | Posted in: News | Comments (0)

A brilliant performance from James Akenhead secured his first major poker tournament victory. He has developed a real presence at the table and lived up to his Full Tilt Red Pro billing by taking down a large tournament soon after signing for them.

How can he possibly top a year where made the November Nine, WSOPE Final Table and winner of Poker Million. Wow.

That adds another $500,000 to his growing bankroll. James looked emotional after winning and said he would be buying property with his winnings, which is a wise choice in my opinion.

Juha Helppi did well to finish second and Dag Martin Mikkelsen should be credited for his approach. Luke Schwartz got a few tellings off from Mad Marty Wilson the tournament director for splashing the pot and the mic was generally low each time he spoke, as it was live on sky sports. Well done to James, look out everyone in 2010!

Full Tilt Poker Million VIII Results

1 James Akenhead $500,000
2 Juha Helppi $250,000
3 Dag Martin Mikkelsen $200,000
4 Luke Schwartz $150,000
5 Craig Wakeham $100,000
6 Pete Vasiliou $75,000
7 Taylor Caby $50,000

Aced Poker Cannot Pay Their Players

Posted by Mal | November 12, 2009 | Posted in: News | Comments (0)

Aced poker have become the latest poker site unable to pay their players.

This is an email taken from the poker article on 911gambling.com

“From: Aced Support To: XXXXXXX@live.com
Subject: RE: RE: (LTK6150744719X)
Sent: Nov 8, 2009 11:58 PM
Reference number: LTK6150744719X Please use this ticket number in any correspondence with us. Subject: RE:

Hi HXXXXXn,

As I stated in my last email to you, we do not hold your funds. If we held your funds, they would appear in your poker account balance or in the pending transactions in the poker client. The transaction is approved and processed on our end and the funds have been sent to PIC Club.

The fact is that all outstanding funds have been sent to PIC Club and our business relationship with them is over. I do not know why they are telling you otherwise.

I am sorry if you are having trouble getting your funds back from PIC Club but they are in no way held by Aced or the Merge Gaming Network.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,
CS Manager James Customer Support Representative”

This is particularly galling. Full Tilt and Pokerstars have had similar problems with up to $50 million dollars and the players still get paid. I hope this is resolved quickly. This is probably the end for Aced Poker and yet another example of why you should play at reputable larger poker rooms only. Remember that the people holding your money do, even for a short time, refrain direct access to it so trusted sites like bwinpoker.com, backed up by a sportsbook that has 20 million customers is surely a safer place to play.

Durrrr Joins Team Full Tilt

Posted by Mal | November 11, 2009 | Posted in: News | Comments (0)

I have been surprised that Tom Dwan has not been signed as a high level Pro at Full Tilt for some time. This has now happened and below is the video of the press conference held to welcome him to the team.

Tom has since gone on a massive downswing of around $2 million on Full Tilt. There has been speculation that his deal may be worth around $100,000 a month to Dwan, but this pales into insignificance when you think this young man is playing for millions everyday. He will be seen on the live circuit a lot more after this move.

He looked a little embarrassed at the formality of the press conference as did Patrik Antonius. Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson were far more comfortable and they hinted more online stars would join them in the future. Good new for Aaron “AEJones” Jones and Illari “Ziigmund” Sahamies you feel.

Joseph Cada is 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion

Posted by Mal | November 10, 2009 | Posted in: News | Comments (0)

Joseph Cada has done it! He has beaten Darvin Moon and won the biggest prize of them all!

Congratulations to Stu Ungar look-a-like Joe, who wins $8.5 million for his life changing victory.

Darvin Moon put up a great fight and lost with dignity. Hopefully we will see both players in plenty of tournaments in the future. Joe has signed for Pokerstars, ending his one off affiliation with UB. Another thing I am glad to see.

Joseph Cada & Darvin Moon Go Heads Up

Posted by Mal | November 8, 2009 | Posted in: News | Comments (0)

All of the fancied names have gone from the November 9 and the two remaining players to battle for the bracelet are Joseph Cada and Darvin Moon.

Here are their chip counts.

Joseph Cada – $135,950,000
Darvin Moon – $58,850,000

Joseph will become the youngest winner ever should he win the event and it looks likely he will do. Both players have done very well getting this far. Darvin put a sick beat on Phil Ivey to eliminate him by catching a Queen on his AQ v AK of Ivey.

The rest of the payouts were as follows,

3. Antoine Saout $3,479,485
4. Eric Buchman $2,502,787
5. Jeff Shulman $1,953,395
6. Steven Begleiter $1,587,133
7. Phil Ivey $1,404,002
8. Kevin Schaffel $1,300,228
9. James Akenhead $1,263,602

Disappointment for the UK hope Akenhead as he managed to catch a miracle Queen to stay alive only to be eliminated in 9th place. Well done to Frenchman Saout who did very well to finish third. The Everest poker fans will be happy who had a stake in him! Good luck to Darvin and Joseph for tomorrows heads up match.
