After my speculation adjusting the night before I was pleased to wake up bang on at 5.5 this morning. I arranged to meet a friend after work so did not test at 12 but ate a banana to keep me going. A naughty lunch followed and late too. This always complicates things.

What I cannot do, however, is explain the weird night reading. I ate two bacon rolls with no sauce (sauce has sugar in) and from 6.7 I took the correct amount of insulin. I ate slightly later, but the 11.7 is weird. Adjustment made.

I had a standard day in terms of food and ate my normal lunch after Labour group, which was a long meeting. I had my normal tea but over-compensated and I don’t honestly remember why. Anyway, 4.8 was a nightmare before bed and it forced me to eat. Fortunately I know that a roll increases sugar levels by about 3.0 so I predicted that would get me to 7.8 which would normally be 32 units of glargine but I adjusted to 28 to be on the safe side.

A typical Sunday where the only “drama” was that I got extremely hungry by 10pm, I think because I ate at 5pm instead of 6pm. It reinforces the importance of sticking to the plan and waiting to eat until 6pm.

I arranged to meet a friend at 10am, but had breakfast in two parts. Because I’d eaten I only had a chicken breast for lunch and therefore had my lunch insulin then. This rendered having a test at lunch inaccurate as it was technically 2 hours after food. So that is the reason the reading is different.

I find social engagements mean changes to my normal insulin and food routine. This is not a bad thing, but it means making good food choices where temptation is always present and as I eat where I’ve eaten before, invariably poor choices (tasty choices of course) were made in the past.

Back to today, from tea things were back to normal. I was pleased with my adjustment from tea to bed which was within tolerable ranges and meant I did the calculation right.

I did consider deleting this blog but I will continue. Instead of struggling with errors I will endeavour to get back on track. My biggest problem at the moment is a mental block around losing weight. I seem to feel, inadvertently, that I have reached my limit. This is not true. I must get back to succeeding again, failure is more normal to me.

A string of personal issues has led to me indulging a bit on food. I’ve a lot of uncertainty in my life at the moment, hence a bit of a lull in my discipline. There is no excuse, but there it is.

My lunch indiscretion caused the rest of the day to go wrong. It’s a good reminder to keep that discipline. I need to do better and I will, although I’m conscious I keep saying this.

I’m struggling to keep the blog going. Let me know if you read it. Again, it’s proving a struggle across the board at the moment.

Today I had a hearing at Spennymoor and it was a three and a half hour marathon. This meant I could not test at lunch but I was able to understand where I was. I ate alright today.

I will be changing up the blog as of 1st October. I’m not sure into what, but I want to focus more on diet and fitness rather than just sugar readings. It may evolve in that direction.

I had a much better day today with my food. I got lunch right, avoided snacks and generally felt more in control. I struggled whilst waiting to eat tea then had a nice tea, albeit with 2 rolls which I will fix tomorrow. All in all it was a much better effort and got myself back on track.

The improvement came from waking up early and really focusing on preparing my tea for the evening so come 5.30pm I lit the stove and began to cook with everything ready.

Sunday is always a day where I save my bread for later in the day and treat myself at tea. This was a standard day. More to come tomorrow where me and my sister are sending photos of our food to keep ourselves in check!

I had a good breakfast and a decent lunch although I ate some extra scrambled eggs to use my eggs up! I didn’t get to take a tea reading as I simply forgot and took additional insulin as I ate a tuna sandwich at the football after the match. We lost again. I made the standard adjustment to go again tomorrow.

A note about this blog is it is beginning to become a bit repetitive. In order to avoid repetition I am considering adding some vlog videos to the mix and do plan on going to the gym to incorporate exercise to ensure my weight loss targets continue to be met.

Today involved a couple of logistical errors but I ate alright. I went to Crook first thing to meet former work colleagues for breakfast and I left my testing kit in the car! Lunch was a burger at Cakes and Bakes in Esh Winning which has become something of a Friday tradition and then I had forgotten to take out a chicken for tea as I had been preoccupied with going for breakfast and had driven to Crook early and sat in the car taking in the ambience.

I went to watch Tow Law vs Esh Winning in a local Northern League Division 2 football match so had two bacon rolls before leaving. I misjudged the insulin and had to adjust with the glargine. I will be tight for the next week, particularly at lunch.

I took 6 units with breakfast at 6.1 rather than my normal 5 and came in perfect at lunch at 4.8. I took 10 units with lunch because I had an appointment in Newcastle at 4 so tea would be slightly later when I got home. I’m not sure what happened with my evening reading as I took the correct amount of insulin. My only thought is that the potato was quite large and perhaps that explains a few more carbs having got into my system.

I plan on varying my lunches and putting a bit more effort into them. I do not want to creep back into carb heavy lunches. My tea and breakfast are fine but I find lunch both difficult and tempting.

Good day today. I had breakfast out and had scrambled eggs on brown toast followed by a nice lunch. No snacks all day but I did indulge and have an extra roll with tea. My experiment at eating marinated chicken failed and I won’t be repeating that mistake although I do plan on changing it up tomorrow and eating pasta for tea! But it will be plain chicken only from now on because if it’s not broken don’t fix it.

I had a standard lunch and breakfast today. Unfortunately my marinated chicken did not defrost in time so I had bacon rolls and then a banana later on. I intend on suffering tomorrow with a tight diet. Bring it on.
