Breakfast and lunch were standard today. I bowled in the afternoon then had my usual tea. I struggled today with the food as I was tempted throughout the day and ended up having an extra roll for tea. My night reading was 6.2 which was a bit lower than I’d like but it just confirms 11 is the right amount for tea.

I need to crank up the discipline starting tomorrow. I’m not sure what is causing a little wobble but the good news is I’m still testing and not letting my standards slip in that area. I need to redouble my efforts across the board including some exercise to get a boost and get back into it. I feel I’ve hit a brick wall and need to kick on.

Breakfast and lunch were standard and my readings normal. I had to set off from home at 4.40pm as we had Football and I had a car load of players. This meant my normal time of preparing my food of 5.30pm was impossible.

Because we could not find the pub after the match I ended up eating nothing from 4.30pm until 8.45am this morning. I make a mental note that I was only a little bit hungry so this should inspire me to eat less and know that I will last until the next meal. I went to bed late and had 30 units of glargine.

A point to note that if I say a “roll” I mean wholemeal unless stated otherwise, but I don’t eat white bread.

All in all a decent day but one where I struggled to get my food right. The 40 units of glargine saw me wake up at an ideal level of 5.5. Work was eventful and the tuna roll didn’t seem nearly enough but that might have been my “stress eating” rearing it’s ugly head. I dislike the urge to food cheat more than the cheating itself so today felt disappointing even if I was pretty good.

It will be difficult tomorrow as I have a football match in the evening where I am one of the Managers so I will need to make do and I will be eating late. I’ve not managed to work out how to do it just yet. I will probably eat really early and have a snack later in the evening before bed if I need it.

Complacency cocked me up today. I did well until tea and then snacked on a few things during the evening. It was nothing that in the moment felt particularly bad but I ate stuff I shouldn’t rather absentmindedly. I paid the price with an 11.8 reading. As I write this I am really angry with myself.

I made an adjustment and injected 40 units of glargine. I feel a bit down but I will do better tomorrow. I’m finding it harder in general and it feels like I’ve hit a bit of a brick wall. It shows in a few minor errors that pile up into a mistake. I will crank up the effort but it’s not going to be easy.

Evidently I got my adjustment right from last night and woke up at 5.7. My milk was almost on the turn but I had my Weetabix alright and moved on to lunch. I decided to try something new and cooked pasta, mince and garden peas and calculated 7 units would zap the carbs. I took the 7 units and perhaps will have 8 next time but 6.9 at tea was fine.

I ate a nice tea of my usual roast but did not have gravy. I was very peckish at around 9pm but didn’t falter! At 11.30pm I came in at 8.1 which is an obvious 32 units of glargine for the morning reset. After yesterday’s long journey I just stayed in today and watched some Football.

I am aching for bed so forgive the short post when the content could be much longer! We had a football match today at Windscale near Whitehaven and had to endure a long bus journey of 4 hours when the driver went down the A1 and across the A66 instead of going via Hexham and Carlisle. We got stuck in heavy traffic near Penrith and had to delay kick-off. We drew 3-3 then won on penalties!

I ate normally until tea despite this upheaval and change to my routine. I had a Mars Bar at half-time so I avoided the Pie, Chips and Peas meal laid on afterwards. I took insulin on the bus, albeit late, then ate two bacon rolls when I got home at 9pm. My 11.10pm reading was obviously not taking into account the insulin still working inside me so I took 24 units of glargine making what I hope is an accurate future adjustment downwards. I should have taken food for tea too.

Tomorrow will be more stable. I’m not having dinner at my parents so I control my food intake tomorrow and plan to have a good day without any snacks to get back on track.

I visited Crook and met with friends for breakfast. I ate a little late at 9.15am so we 4.4 by then. My friend Neil visited for the afternoon and we took photos and discussed our business. I took my packed lunch out with us having prepared it in mid-morning. Preparation is key.

We had a great days photography and I had a bit of a large tea but hey, I was hungry. I ate a bit much but I’m beginning to think I need the odd treat otherwise I’m struggling to keep up with this regime. Anyway, I made the adjustment in my glargine and will have an awesome weekend and week next week to get some pounds off.

Today I did more bowling and had a good one hours coaching session with a man called Brian at 8pm. I enjoy indoor bowls as it relaxes me and as stress can mess with sugar levels it’s really important to manage stress in life.

As you can see there is nothing much to report on today. I found today quite easy but enjoyed a good evening meal with two rolls. 12 units has me sit still in the evening and 11 for one roll gets me from 5.5 to 7.0 and 14 does the job if I have two wholemeal rolls (rare). Unless anything drastic changes from my future readings that will be the level I go at to get to my target night range.

Today I continued my week off work and I played 90 minutes of indoor bowls which, when played alone, means 4 bowls followed by a walk to the opposite end of the rink then repeat. I probably did about 3000 steps. It’s great for low-impact exercise. I also did a ton of tidying and clearing in the house today where we cleared the TV area, drawers in the kitchen and upstairs cupboard.

In terms of food I did fine and had a nice amount today without overdoing it. I did get a craving for (of all things) Chicken Fried Rice with curry sauce (I don’t even like curry sauce that much) this evening but it came and went. My readings were fine with good adjustments.

Today I enjoyed a nice game of indoor bowls, a game I find completely relaxes me and is a good source of low-impact exercise. I bought a packet of crusty bread rolls, which was outside of my tight diet, however, I did enjoy them! I don’t think it’s a huge mistake but I want to keep disciplined in order to maintain my levels of weight loss at least for another 30 pounds.

I paid the price for a bread roll snack by having a tea reading of 10.1. The adjustment for tea and then to get to 11pm was perfect as I came in at 7.0. A triumph! I will eat perfectly tomorrow and I am trying out my new bowls between 10.30am and 12.30pm so that should see me get some steps in. I’d like to join a team at some point perhaps.

Today I managed my sugar levels well. I adjusted at lunch as I had a tuna baguette from Morrison’s which was really nice and then I had my usual roast in the evening. I never really felt hungry or peckish today which felt really good and as you can see from the readings it was a predictable, steady, stable day.

I’ve not ordered any protein bars yet and will wait on those for this month as I need to press forward with my weight loss. I received news that I have secured an interview for a really good job, so I’m going to be preparing for that for the next 10 days so that should focus the mind as well as serve as a distraction from thoughts of food!

My morning reading was higher than I’d like at 7.5 because of being low the night before and eating. Regular readers will know it’s a two reading consequence when a mistake is made. I thought 7 units would be enough for an accurate adjustment but it wasn’t so I adjusted again at lunch (where I ate no bread) to get back to normal. This worked fine and I came in at 5.1 at tea.

The challenge at tea is to get to 7.0 or thereabouts by nightfall from wherever I start. Currently I calculate I need 3 units of insulin per wholemeal bread bun and 3 units per banana. This meant 9 units for the meal to get back to 5, therefore taking 2 units less to raise my levels towards 7 which is the target range. It felt good to come in at 7.2 before bed and I took 30 units of glargine.

Tomorrow I start a Football coaching course which lasts for 4 days. I will do more exercise than normal so it will be interesting to see what this means for my readings.

My breakfast and lunchtime readings prove that when I do things I right I get rewarded! We had a Football match and they always put food on afterwards. I grabbed a couple of tuna sandwiches and ate those. Naughty and I was punished with a 10.8. We lost 0-4 so I think I was self-medicating! Football means a place where I always used to eat so not eating takes some effort! Effort that I know I must make. I adjusted at tea and got back to 5.9. That was a bit low so I adjusted and headed to bed.

I’ve quite a bit of stress in my life at the moment. The Football team I manage is a source of that stress. I’m also uncertain what my work situation will be come October. I’ve had a relationship break up is a stress. The weather has been weird with high humidity. I’m told all that can affect my readings. I’ll have a tight day tomorrow.

Today I had a nice lunch at Cakes and Bakes in Esh Winning. I enjoy their Hamburger and Chips and ate a smaller dinner as a result.

I went to the Football and did not eat anything there and feel good about restraining myself when I was tempted. My sugar was a little low before bed so I had a banana and then 26 units of glargine. I know a banana increases my sugar by about 2.0.

Today was a good day in terms of my food and my readings although I remain puzzled as to why I now need 7 units at breakfast to reach lunch at good levels and 8 units at lunch when I only required 4 a few weeks ago. I’m eating the same food! Admittedly lunch was one bun larger than normal but I used up the tin of tuna. However, it was nice to have a little change.

I struggled tonight which is rare and could have easily eaten something from 8pm – 10pm but I battled through it. Oddly at 11.20pm I now feel fine and not hungry so I know it was my body playing tricks! Maybe I was thirsty.
